In the last Saturday of July every year, Filipinos celebrate the feast of Our Lady of Fatima. Some churches and Filipino families travel from Canada to the US to participate in the celebration. This year, we went to the shrine with our other church-mates by bus.

When we arrived at the shrine, the first thing that we did was to look for a pamphlet to know more about the area. At the entrance of the cathedral, there were pamphlets that we can take to get more information about it.

Brief History: According to the pamphlet, we found out that Fatima was a place in Lisbon, Portugal, where Mother Mary appeared to three children. Feel free to watch the video below for the whole story:

The National Shrine Basilica in Lewiston, New York was initially a small grotto dedicated to Our Lady. However, because of the increasing amount of believers in Our Lady, the construction of the basilica started in 1959. After its construction, Pope Paul VI conferred it as a basilica in 1975 and is thus now called the National Shrine Basilica Our Lady of Fatima.

The map of the Basilica can be found here. Feel free to open the map alongside our blog to follow us on the journey we took! Here are some of the pictures that we took on our visit:
