Black Charcoal and Matcha Bean Ice Cream: iHalo Krunch

Ever had that craving for some ice cream on a hot summer day? Well, we sure experienced that! To quench and satisfy that craving, we decided to head on over to iHalo Krunch. Charcoal Ice Cream with Coconut Flavour costs $7.35 with the cone.

We found the small shop at Queen Street West. Although it was small, it was clean and very spacious. You could say that the design concept of the store leaned towards the minimalist side of the spectrum and had an amazing and welcoming vibe. There were two tables that had two stools each and a place to hang out, if you are in group, at the back of the counter. We like the overall interior of the place, which we were unable to take a picture of. There were plants and the ambiance was relaxing and is a great spot to kick back and take it easy with your friends after a long week of school, work or both. Upon entering the store, we took a glance at the menu on top of the counter and found that they had an assortment of unique and tasty ice cream flavours that are the biggest contenders in satisfying that ice cream craving.

They offer four flavours: Charcoal, Ube, Matcha and Vanilla bean (1). Now, like all ice cream stores, this store has an option of having your ice cream in a cone or cup. But there was one thing about this store that we feel sets it apart from many other ice cream stores and that is...... THEIR BLACK CONES! Which, fun fact, has melted marshmallow at the bottom. Unique, aren't they? There is also an option where you can combine two, three or all the flavours of ice cream (1) (which we could have tried. Regrets, regrets, regrets). Also, they have different ice cream flavours according to the season or event(s) (1).

Overall, the staff were friendly and patient. After giving our orders, we immediately received them. We especially loved how the workers swirl the ice cream onto the cone or cup with care and precision, which we feel is their selling point! Along with speediness, of course!

We tried the Black on Black Ice cream on a cone, which costs around $ 7.35. The ice cream tasted like coconut and the texture was thick and rich. They actually filled the cone from the bottom and up with ice cream and we loved it (wouldn't mind having some now). It took a long time for me to finish the ice cream. After finishing the ice cream, our lips turned to black, making us look like witches. That being said, it took a lot of water to remove the black stain from our lips.

Matcha Bean Ice Cream on Cone

We also ordered the Match Bean Combination on a cup. The ice cream had a texture that was almost like gelato and they were incredibly.... flavourful! The flavour just spreads over your mouth and happily quenches the need for something cold to forget the summer heat.

As a whole, the ice cream served at iHalo Krunch is amazing and as we type up this post, we can still vividly remember the softness and flavour of the ice cream.
