After watching a lot of anime characters eating Japanese curry, which made us curious about it in the process, we finally had the chance to try it at Gyugyuya in Downtown Toronto.
When we entered Gyugyuya, we were greeted by the workers in Japanese (we did not hear it though). The theme of the place was yellow, red and black. After seating us at a table, they gave us some time to choose what we wanted to eat from their menu.

Surprisingly, their service was really fast!
The serving of the dishes we ordered was huge and served exactly like the one in the picture (Expectation vs. Reality met). We ordered the Gyu curry and Gyu Cheese Curry.
The picture on the right shows Gyu curry, which had shredded cabbage, sliced egg, and beef. At the bottom of the plate was the rice with the curry.
We also tried the Gyu cheese curry, as shown in the picture below. The left most part of the plate has the beef, middle has the melted cheese and the right side has finely sliced Cabbage and sliced eggs. At the bottom of the toppings was also the rice and curry. The dish was flavourful and full of goodness. It was delicious!

Usually, we eat or drink dairy products to lessen the spiciness of the food. Having tasted Thai, India, and Filipino curry, Japanese curry was not that spicy in comparison. At least in our opinion. After all, each palate and tolerance for spiciness is different, right? Little tip, you are also able to order the cheese on the side just in case you are not used to eating curry or spicy food. Our overall experience with the place, service and food was great. We highly recommend giving this place a try! You, your stomach and palate will definitely not regret it!
