Whether you are high school student who needs to complete 40 community volunteer hours or whether you want to make a change in a cause that concerns you, volunteering for different organizations is the way to go. This post consists of a list of websites that will give you resources of where you can volunteer and to help you get started.
If you live in Toronto, Volunteer Toronto is the website where you can get information about volunteering opportunities in Toronto, i.e what they are about, when they will be taking place and where. When looking for a position, its search filter will ask you which country, position, purpose and number of days you are interested in volunteering for. After clicking search, it will provide you with a list of all the available positions, dates, events and organizations. Click on the position to find out more information, or, if you are interested in a specific organization, you can click it to know more about the positions available in the organization.
Charity Village has the same search filter option as Volunteer Toronto if you want to be more specific in what you want to volunteer for. However, there are some organizations that post on Charity Village, but not in Volunteer Toronto and vice versa. That's why it's good to check different resources or websites to find the position and organization you really want to volunteer for.
One feature that we really like about Charity Village is that it shows the Special Awareness Days. When you click the Special Awareness Day tab, it will show you different awareness days on a specific month, week and day. Beside the name of the cause or event is the name of the organization that is in charge of it, so if you want to help out to learn more about it, click and join!
3. SparkOntario

Spark Ontario, from the name, covers non-for-profit organizations across Ontario. You can still filter your options though. They also post other volunteer opportunities from the government of Canada. We really like the layout of the website and how detailed the positions posted on the website are.
4. Google Search the Cause or Cause you want to get involved with / Search on the Website of the Organization
Most organizations have websites and have the Get Involved button. After you click it, they will give you different volunteering positions. You can choose from the positions listed and fill the form for that position. We suggest you subscribe to be included in their list. Some organizations usually announce any volunteer opportunity to the people who are in their email list first before posting it online.
If you have any other resources you would like to share, please feel free to post them on the comments section below!
